I just built a prerunner style light bar for the roof of my ranger. I have two older offroad lights mounted in it, they have 100 watt bulbs. What is the best way to get power to these? I think my headlight switch is bad, is there any way to hook them up alone, with a switch? Are these lights to big for my stock alternator? thanks!:icon_confused:

sweet!

:worthless:

if thats the only lights you are running besides your headlights, your stock alternator should be able to handle it. check this out for how to wire them up: http://www.offroaders.com/images/projects/lightforce/wiring-diag.gif
I would use a relay like they show in the diagram. If you want a lighted switch you can get one with 3 prongs and wire the 3rd prong to a ground. and post some pics when your done!:icon_thumby:

get a switch kit from 4wheel parts for about 17 bucks, it includes 14guage wire, inline fuse, relay and a sweet looking switch, ive got two 100 watt pro comps i used it to wire up

I'll check that out, are you able to run your headlights with your offroad lights on also?

Yeah your stock alternator is more than suffecient for two 100 watt lights, I have the two offroad lights, high output stereo and train horn and my alternator still has much to give, and yeah you can run them with your headlights on
