Official A4LD Problem Thread!

Thanks I appreciate it.
Once I get some money I'll try that one.

Hi everyone.
I'm sure most of you know me.

For those of you who don't.
I have a 1994 Ranger with the 4.0 v6 with the automatic A4LD transmission.

I know that most of my parts I have to get off of a 93 or 94.
Does that count about my transmission as well?

@SenorNoob
Thank you
I didn't even think about using that website to check interchangeable parts for whatever year whatever make whatever model I'm sure everybody knows what I mean.

I tried making a post but it didn’t get any attention so trying again here:

I bought a 1990 Ford Ranger 2.3l with an A4LD off of Facebook Marketplace and it had the normal gamut of transmission issues... After replacing the governor valve, vacuum modulator, putting a shift kit in the valve body, replacing OD solenoid (twice!) I have one issue remaining.

When I accelerate from a stop in the OD range, it is slow to accelerate. It seems like it is starting in 2nd, and I only detect 2 shifts (and TCC lockup). In D, I get much high revs, and an early shift at lower speed, what I would assume is typical for 1st gear.

What could cause this issue? I see one post over the years describing this exactly, but they pointed to the OD solenoid or the valve body sticking, both of which I have fixed. Any other ideas?

@JonaD
I'm sorry to say but I'm to much of a novice to be able to help you.

However I'm sure someone else in TheRangerStation family will be able to help you.

Good luck. I hope you will be able to enjoy your truck soon.
