Off rd work truck re gear

I think 3.27 gears was Ford's attempt to game the EPA numbers. They probably penciled out on paper to Ford's benefit, but in real life, they just plain suck. Most people who swap from 3.27s (or 3.08 on 2WDs) to something deeper like 3.55:1 or 3.73:1 report a fuel mileage increase all around because the engine doesn't have to labor so hard to get the truck moving (especially those with an automatic trans).

I had a buddy many years ago with a bone-stock '93 2WD with the 4.0L and 3.08s. That thing was a slug.
