OEM spare size on 94 Ranger?

Hey,
I bought a 4x4 '94 Ranger recently, and it had a 135-90 T15 wheel as a spare thrown in the bed. Is that anywhere near the size of the OE spare wheel?

I've had three 94's all had fullsize spare under the box, 2wd had 14" with same spare as on the trucks, 4wd had 31x15s oem and spare was 225/75.

The spares don't always match the size of the regular but sometimes do. One instance, is in the case of a limited slip differential, the spare must match the regular tire size so that the differential isn't damaged if you put the spare on (L/S don't like mismatched tires sizes).

On my '90 Ranger, the spare was the same 215/75R15 as the regular tires but on my BIIs the spare that came with them was a mini donut size spare, but roughly the same height.

Do '90 ranger 2wd normally have 15" wheels?

I bought one of my '94s new and it had 14" wheels oem with a matching spare, another 94 2wd had 15s but the door tag said 14s were oem. Only the 4wd had 15"oem and the id plate shows 31x10.5x15, the spare is oem also but its a Firestone 225/75x15.

Mini donut with a B2? Is that oem for ones with the spare mounted inside the truck? All the outside mounted ones Ive seen have full size spare.

A ranger with dual tanks might have a donut spare, mine are single tank with spare hung underneath

Yeah, the BII had the spare mounted inside.

I think both 15" and 14" wheels could be had from the factory on gen2 2wd Rangers. 4wd Ranger, to the best of my knowledge, always had 15" wheels with the gen4s having an option for 16" wheels.

That's odd. I stand corrected. Sorry for the misinformation. Maybe it was an explorer thing, I've had a couple that had l/s and had same size spare and regular and had read somewhere they will always be the same, I guess I was under the impression it was all rbvs that we're like that.

Well to be perfectly honest with ya, your reasoning for keeping the spare teh same size as the tires on the vehicle makes sense to me. If the rear tire does go flat, I would put a front tire in its place and teh spare on the front end.. more work but it would beat the heck out or wearing out the clutch pack in the differential.

It flat out tells you what size it should be...
