o.k so I just bought a 94 ranger with a 5spd 4.0 2wd. I replaced the transmission. and when I went to hook the o2 sensors back up, I couldn't because I cant find the damn thing they plug into. do they plug into wires that hang down? or into a terminal of some sort? where do they go???

I think you have the same connectors as other 91-94 4.0Ls. The single HEGO sensor plug is supposed to be connected to the topmost right side bellhousing bolt. Since you have removed the transmission, it's probably hanging loose on the right side of the engine block, toward the rear. You really do want to secure it or you'll suffer a risk from older RBV V6s -- melting the HEGO sensor wires to the exhaust manifold.

91-92 4.0's use a single O2 sensor in the junction of the 'y' pipe - 93-94 use 2 sensors - 1 in each downpipe. The plugs are at the back of the engine - real pain to plug them in and be careful not to get them backwards - you'll end up with one side running rich and the other side running lean.

The harness plugs are "anchored" with a bracket that is held in place with the top two bellhousing bolts.
