o/d light flashing

hey guys, i hav a 2001 ranger, 3.0 litre, automatic trans. The problem is that the o/d light flashes while driving,seems to go through all the gears just fine,light just flashes,should i not drive the vehicle or is it ok to drive with light flashing.not trying to ignore problem just don't have the funds to fix right now.what could the problem be? how do i fix

Could be many things. The light just tells you something is wrong. You would need to pull the codes for a more specific answer.

Usually a flashing light means its not a good idea to keep driving though.

thank you adsm08. I will have the codes pulled then to see what the problem could be,may be an easy fix. Don't wanna damage any more than already is. Thanks again
