Now this from Ford....OMG


That gives more insight on why Ford is bailing out. They rested on their laurels for too long. Now they have toyota threatening the market along with some others, and Ford would have to do a complete redesign due to years of laziness. With the current sales of cars and trends with the economy, Ford likely can't justify spending the money for a market they probably won't be able to compete in anymore.

Like Toyota or hate them, they gain market share every year in every category they compete in. It would only be a matter of time.
 
I honestly think that if this truck ends I'm gonna go buy a Nissan Frontier. Atleast with that I can get almost all I want, 4 fullsize doors, long bed, v6 and 4wd. I'm not too sure about getting the 6speed with 4wd these days but I've seen a few older models with a 6speed and 4wd.
 
When Ranger ends......... I'm going to buy a Ranger, and then another Ranger, and then a B2 and then another B2....

Ive never bought a vehicle off the lot before (new)......... and I never planned to.
When they discontinue Rangers it will just make the Rangers I have worth that much more... and mean you guys can get Nissans, and Yota's, and S-10's and I can have all the old quality products for myself.

im gonna stick to used Rangers for a long time, even that i have the diesel Ranger over here, its not the same thing. Drive the American Ranger and then drive the Thai Ranger and ull now what im talking about , only the south american/argentinian Ranger compared to the American, it had the same frame and torsion bar suspension, shame it got fugly as hell and they wont bring it over here again :sad:

i feel like if Ford abandoned us
wait some 10-15 years more and the F-150 will be ditched too

only truck i would change my Ranger for is a F-250/350 reg cab power stroke, 6spd and 4x4
 
It's going to be sad when the Ranger is really done with. It's the sexiest truck alive.
 
This is the reason why when I get a newer truck, it's going to be a Duramax. My ranger gets 19, my buddys 2500 gets 21. I know it's a bowtie but I dont give a shit. 7.3's are rare around here so I'm going to go to the next best thing. If I didn't have to tow a box trailer and people for fireworks shows, I would get a newer ranger.
 
7.3's forsale anywhere are rare........ but why a Duracrap? ......... find GMT400 chevy or a pre 98 F series and do a 6bt swap .........
 
A lot of posters are targeting MPG's. The Main reason I have a Ranger is it's size. I have a home so I need a truck but not the monsters they produce today. There has been nothing I have needed to carry or haul that my Ranger hasn't handled. The MPG's are just a bonus even with the mods I've done.

It's all good and well some of ya want full size trucks and if I ever got some land or other reason to need one all the better. I drove my friends 91 F150 for a month this past fall and I'm sorry but they are too big. Unless you have a job that needs that capacity it's a waste of truck for just personal use and now his 91 F150 looks like a mid-size next to a 2010 F150. My God compare a 65 model to the current one. Hell, my house was built in 96 and the Ranger zips into it. The full size I'd have to pull the mirrors in and creep in.

Again, I'm not flaming anyone for wanting a full size but if you do you might want to let us have your hand me downs! :yahoo:
 
I get terrible mileage in my 04 17ish if I don't play at all........ my dually diesel got 25 detuned (pre 3rd turbo, and 2nd set of injectors...) on the trip to detroit and home.

I really don't care about mileage.

I just want to keep driving RBV's. If I happen to get good mileage, it was an added bonus of some other mod. If my ranger got 8mpg, I would still drive it everyday.

S-10s are not worth their weight in used toilet paper.

But anyways, i did jump ship when i bought my colorado. Reasons for getting the chevy....

1- The 2.3L Ford 4cylinder is nutless compared to Chevys 2.9L 4banger, and gets around the same mileage.

2- Finding a Brand new, stripped down 4cyl/5sp rubber floored crank windowed ranger? Impossible. Chevy stocked them.

3- I do not know if the colorado will make it to 300,000miles like rusty has, and granted, its not as much of a workhorse as rusty (i would NEVER load the colorado like i did rusty), but i cant speak for the new Rangers, they may be just as weak as the colorado. I know if you compare a 87 F150 to a 08 Chevy 1500 the F150's gonna be 10X tougher in every way.

and finally #4....

The folks at the chevy dealer seemed alot more willing to help toi get me what i wanted, the Ford Dealers tried to shove me into a F150.

Like I said, there is nothing wrong with a Ranger...... the loss in sales had to do with Ford and marketing.

That depends on the Chevy ..... Chevy has a 1500 HD that can be compared to the pre '98 non HD F250s.

yeah ..... I have always gotten better customer service at the chevy dealership...... Chevy wants to sell vehicles .... Ford wants to sell option packages.....

the Ford Dealers tried to shove me into a F150.

Another thing we both noticed ......... you know ... 2 years ago when i could afford a new pick up ....... although I would walk before I bought a Colorado or an S10
