That gives more insight on why Ford is bailing out. They rested on their laurels for too long. Now they have toyota threatening the market along with some others, and Ford would have to do a complete redesign due to years of laziness. With the current sales of cars and trends with the economy, Ford likely can't justify spending the money for a market they probably won't be able to compete in anymore.
Like Toyota or hate them, they gain market share every year in every category they compete in. It would only be a matter of time.
