Now that I'm in the Dallas Texas area, are there any active offroaders lurking on here that aren't to far? There has to be some places to wheel, but are there people to wheel with?

Welcome to the area Jim. Did you move?

Depending on where in the Dallas area you are Clayton, OK shouldn't be to far a drive/haul for you. New place in Daisy, OK too, but I haven't been there. I think it's more for buggies and/or vehicles with 40" and larger meats. Or course there is Disney, OK which I'm sure you have heard of. I'm not famaliar with anything closer to you.

Hey Jim,

Sorta late, but welcome to Texas. I saw you moved here a while back.

How are you liking it here so far? I go to Colleyville and Plano/McKinney once every 4-6 months.

As far as wheeling places:

  • Barnwell (near Gilmer, TX)
  • Hidden Falls Adventure Park (near Austin, my favorite)
  • Brazos Valley Offroad (College Station TX, club only, invitation or big group reservations only)
  • General Sam's (near Huntsville, TX; fun, but lots of mud)
  • Shiloh Ridge (Alto, TX ; BeauzKnowz goes here often)

It looks like Rocky Ridge might be the geographically closest park to you. I have no experience with that place, or heard much about it.

Jim, in my experience, it's a challenge to get RBV's together since Texas is so expansive. However, we do have a yearly active group that gets together from Explorer Forums, TRS, and R-F.

Members that are close to you are:
  • Mastuh Waffles (Dallas, Denton for school)
  • Hazmat Ranger (Fort Worth)
  • 86SloVo used to be in that greater area. Dunno where he is now.
  • KryptoniteCB (he's north of Dallas, it's 86SloVo's old truck)
  • Motorbill87 (Arlington)
  • Drivenyam (Bedford, haven't heard from him in a while though)

People that are down to wheel in the state of Texas (not street Rangers) that are from TRS are:
  • Beauzknowz (B2, Houston)
  • Northern (previous Gen 3 Ranger, now in an '89 YJ on 35's, College Station)
  • About 5 guys from Explorer Forums / Serious Explorations, don't remember their screen names, they're in Austin & Houston (They are going to Moab in the next month or so.)

There are of course stragglers and members that come and go or are down depending on their schedules.

As for me, my truck is down at the moment. Hopefully in the next month or two I'll get around to tearing it down again. My D44 track bar has somehow come misaligned, and I need to fix my Deaver springs. I don't have a trailer, so she's gotta make it there and back. She's also off insurance and not registered or inspected. Being a former State Trooper, I don't think you'd approve of skating by the law either. :icon_twisted:

Anyway, hit me up if you get down my way. I'll buy you and Vanessa dinner.
