Nope

I just picked up a transfer case and gas tank skid plate off of a fx4 . Can anyone tell me what size hardware I need to bolt the tcase skid to my frame? Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

Someone who actually has skid plates will need to chime in but I believe clip nuts are used to bolt those down to the frame and cross members. So, you would need to get those clips to see what the thread count and pitch is, if you want to be factory correct. Conversely, you could get whatever hardware that will fit the holes from your local hardware store in either SAE or metric. I know my local hardware store sells clip nuts of various sizes but I don't know if they have ones big enough for this or not. If not, some regular old nuts and maybe some washers might be the order for the day.

The only possible hang up might be for the fuel tank skid plate where it bolts to the bed. I don't know if it share hardware with the tank straps or uses separate holes. You might have to experiment some with those depending on how it is mounted but the frame side and the cross member side would definitely have clip nuts. At least the one I saw for @lil_Blue_Ford 's Ranger was like that.

So… the gas tank skid plate is different between regular and extended cabs, just to point that out since it wasn’t mentioned.

The transfer case skid plate, if memory serves me correctly, they are metric bolts and a pair of captive nuts on a bar for inside the frame on each side. I don’t remember what size, but if you don’t have the bars with the captive nuts, it really doesn’t matter much. Just use some bolts and washers with nuts on the top side, 8.8 for metric or grade 5 or 8 for SAE.

The gas tank skid plate uses the springy U-clips in two places on the frame rail and the front gas tank crossmember plus one bolt and nut on the crossmember by the rear gas tank strap. Most hardware stores don’t sell a U-nut in the correct size. I actually ended up hogging out some of the holes and putting a rivet nut in. Most of them you can manage a bolt and washer with a regular nut.
