nooby help with ranger build

Hey yall Ive been lurking for a while and think Ive figured out what Im going to try and do. Ive gota 1994 extended cab 2.3 5 spd 4x2.

heres what i want to do to it

~swap in kubota v2203, turbo, intercooled

~then make 4x4 with dana 30 from jeep - do I keep 2wd tranny ? ifthen what tcase? or just take the whole rear powertrain from a 4x4 ranger?


If I were to do these, though, Id have to do something about the rear seats. Ive been looking at same year explorers, specifically the rear doors. With no small amount of fabrication and time spent, would it be possible to make it a crew cab? Or the other alternative is extending the extended cab, maybe put a bigger window in it? THe cab extension is my biggest question, cant find any resources on that in my searches. oh boy, sorry about the block of text

Unless you have mad fab skills, I'd just buy a 4x4 to play with and cut on with a torch. You can do what you describe, but it's gonna take a lot of $$$$$$.

didn't ask if it was cheap... I'm 1/2 way thru diesel mech school so most of the work will be done by me. this is a build that's going to take years I know, was mainly asking about hte cab extending -- if anyone has done before

There is a fairly recent thread about making a 4-door. I don't think it got completed. The google custom search button up top works better than the in house search.

Personally, I think it would be easier to bob an Explorer body and the Ranger bed.
