okay i literaly have no knowledge of exhaust at all, i have a 93 range 3 liter v6 ,and i want it to sound good, but i dont want to cut my cats of and just before i bought my truck the old owner had a brand new standard exhaust installed so i dont want to buy a whole new thing, i see these trucks round here have big pipes coming off of there small pipes and i want that on mine. how hard is it to do and where cant i get them. sorry for being ignorant to this forum, im sure its on here somewhere but i cant find it.

there's lots of ways to make your engine sound good, if the previous owner just put in a new standard exhuast, then is it just u-bolted together or is all the pipes welded to the muffler? if there just u-bolted, then simply loosen them and take out the standard muffler, and put in an aftermarket muffler of your choice, and if you want it to look like you have larger pipes, buy one of those 3 inch tips from autozone an bolt that on to the end of your pipe, relatively easy to do

wanna make it sounf good just cut it off after the caddy, and rune a 3" pipe out from under the side. :icon_hornsup:
wanna make it not sound like a tuner, do the same but cut it off in gront of the caddy:icon_hornsup::icon_hornsup:

im running a straight pipe w/cat and it sounds only ok, but i felt the power increase when i took out the muffler.... actaully im running a gutted glasspack... lol. i passed inspection with a straight pipe too.

okay, what constitutes a straight pipe?, from my understanding it is just a cat and a pipe, no muffler correct, or just a straight pipe coming from the engine, sorry for the dumb questions i know a little about every thing except exhaust.

straight pipe is usually a term for having no mufflers or anything to limit the exhaust noise so a cat would be included in this. so it would be a pipe from the manifolds straight to the back. not only does this sound horrible, but its illegal as hell. get a flowmaster ,uffler or a knock off, or a magnaflow muffler, and bolt it on. i can help you out with a magnaflow if you want it. its brand new. pm me.

I have a 2.3 in my 86. I put a hedmen header and a heartthrob duel deeptone cat back exhaust. A local parts store sold me a small catalytic converter for 50 bucks. The whole system is 2.25 pipe. Insted of standard mufflers it has two resonators that come out under the rear bumper. Sounds awesome. I'll try to get some vid of it. I love the way my truck sounds now. Not a whole lot of interior resonance either. It's has a nice deep tone at idle and crusing along but put my foot in the throttle and it roars. I find all kind of excuses to drive now(more so than usual).:icon_thumby:
