Noob Trans Question

Hey guys!

I've got a 98 2.5 auto 2WD, with a bad trans, and I'm wondering if I could take the same year, engine, everything, and use a 4WD trans. I know I'd have to change out the tail on the trans, but I'm just curious if this would work. They're both 4R44Es, the discrepany is in the 2-4 wheel drive. Any help would be great!

Sorry about that. I posted this one first, and then saw the post about posting transmission stuff in the Transmission section... I'm looking at how to delete this one haha.

If nobody has responded you can just delete the original post. As it is now a mod can delete the thread.

They are not the same trans 2WD is the 4r44e, the 4WD is the 4r55e, or the 5r55e

O and the 4WD trans is gona b geard differently, ur 2WD trans is geard towards fuel economy, the 4WD trans u might notice smaller gears in it which might b great for take off or pulling but not for hwy, I would just go find a wrecked 2WD from 95-01 and use that becuz those will work better
