Hi I'm new here. I bought this truck recently and the previous owner had done a "partial" conversion. He is using a toggle switch to turn on the AC and I want to change the control panel to the correct one. Is the wiring for the AC part of the dash harness on these? Does anyone have a wiring/vacume line diagram. I'm down in the south of Mexico and info is non-existent here. Thanx in advance.

Then just pick your vehicle and have fun.

There are more than just the right diagrams for certain vehicles. Gotta figure out which one matches your truck.

I'm not sure if it'll work outside the US. So many sites are region dependent.

cant say if its produced out of the us, but us versions are rpo in the dash after 85 iirc.

outside may not have the provisions.

Thanx for the reply: Actually it is a US truck from Colorado. Hate to sound dumb but what is "rpo"?
Are you saying that the connector for the AC is on the dash harness already? I did up a Cavailer years ago and I had to change the dash harness among other things to convert it to AC.
My info is telling me that from 83 to 88 are the "same", and that an AC control from an 88 Bronco ii won't work. Sheesh; what have I gotten myself into! You wouldn't happen to have a pic of the control would you?

I did this same conversion on an 87. The wires were all there in the dash that were needed, you may have to looks as they may be taped away but should be close. I had to get one wire that was on passenger side of frame from the junkyard, best I remember (its been about 10 years) it went to compressor and plugged into a factory plug down by the frame. Other than that is was just adding the parts, replacing heater box and making sure it didn't overheat. Good luck.

Thanx so much: I guess the wire you refer to is for the compressor clutch magnet (?) As I said someone else did the "conversion" now I'm going to attempt to clean things up. Auto wreckers here are scarce. I sure wish I was back in Canada where I could actually look at some examples.
I'll start to trace the wiring next week and see what I have and try to get the correct control head for it.

I'm still struggling with this I'm afraid. I've looked up many schenatics on the net and can't seem to find one where the colors match what I have. All seem consistent with the dash control having Green/Purple and Brown orange.
The relay has: Blue/red which is connected to the Vacume control. Two yellows jumped between two poles and another yellow lead that was used with a toggle swictch the previous owner installed instead of the "Dash control".
The vacume control has two leads. The blck goes to the compressor and the Black/red comes from the solenoid.
Does anyone have a schematic showing these colors? Or can someone assist in sorting out how things are powered/connected after the dash switch.
