so i have this 84 ranger with a 85 2.8 in it, it ran great when i got it then the carb got gunked up and it would spit and sputter, im trying to put it out of the shed to do some work to it but it wont turn over the batt was new last year and it just buzzes like its from the cylinoid... what would it be? the cylinoid? or something else? could it be the starters froze?

Make sure the battery is fully charged first. Put in on a slow charger overnight at about 4 amps. Pop the caps off if it is a serviceable battery so it doesn't explode.

If it won't turn over once it is charged, rap on the starter motor a few times with a hammer. You can jump the solenoid terminals with a large screwdriver and if it works then the solenoid is bad. If it still doesn't start the starter might be locked, or the engine is seized. Put a 3/4" socket on a breaker bar and put it on the center bolt on the crank pulley and try to turn it either direction. If it moves at all then it's not locked and the starter motor is the problem.

well i think its the solenoid or the starter, i know the engine turns over free...
