My guess would be you have distributor 180deg out.
I assume you put crank shaft pulley's timing mark at 0deg Top Dead Center(TDC) when installing the distributor
But did you know there are TWO TDCs for #1 cylinder
TDC compression stroke
TDC exhaust stroke
Distributor rotor needs to be pointed at #1 spark plug wire when #1 is at TDC compression stroke.
You can test this by pulling #1 spark plug and test when it is on compression stroke, then look at rotor on distributor, should be pointed at #1 not #5.
But what might be easier is to move distributor cap out of the way, mark where rotor is now, lift up distributor and rotate rotor so it is pointed in opposite direction, 180deg
Then reinstall and try starting
