2.3L ('83-'97) No Start Unless Gas Pedal Floored

89 and up do not have the fuel reservoir that was linked to above. It serves no purpose in a single pump system.

I tried testing the MAS by unplugging it while the truck was idling, it didn’t kill the engine. Does that mean the MAS is bad? Is there a better way to test it?

Just tested the mass airflow sensor, (I’ve been calling it MAS for short). Checked all the voltages with a multi meter and it seems to be working good

I’m gonna go ahead and replace t he FPR because I smell gas in the line connecting to it. Worst case scenario I waste $30-40

I just replaced the FPR. It's a real pain to get to on my truck, had to remove the alternator and unplug some things. Good news. It started up after that about 10 times in a row without me needing to push on the gas. I'm gonna test it a few more times in the morning or tomorrow night before calling this case closed.

Thanks guys for all the help so far! :)

I finally got my truck put back together after doing a bunch of work on it. It still isn't starting right every time, but it's gotten better. I did the throttle cable mod and removed about an inch of slack; between that and some new parts, I'm noticing a pretty good increase in power. I'm gonna keep updating this thread until I get it starting up good every time. I'm gonna do some more work on it this weekend and check the timing and more of the sensors.

Did you ever figure out the problem fully?
