Hi all
Bought a beater that sat for 2 or 3 yrs.
Installed new
Fuel pump and sender
Fuel filter
Cleaned injector
Truck started and drove 1 mile. Let idle a while turn off and restart 3 or 4 times no prob. Truck has high idle it's late I am done.
Next day I pull IAC it's dirty and stuck so I clean and test now IAC works.
But now truck turns over but no start.
Little help?I think I need to adjust to factory throttle body setting but I don't have a manual.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Mike

There is no actual TB adjustment for idle. It is all controlled by the computer and other components...if anything you have a vacuum line that needs replacing to correct high idle...or maybe it is just off.

There are a few things on vacuum that might also need attention...the heater controls are vacuum operated and there might be a check valve on the passenger side that looks like a softball but is all black. That is where the vac lines come from the cab and may have loose or wonky connections. The evap cannister also uses manifold vac and that line comes out around the oil dipstick...

All this may vary slightly on the 93 but that's what I have on the 96 2.3...

The no start is probably a bigger issue that needs to be addressed...spark, fuel, air...essentially needed to start the engine. If you spray starter fluid (engine, not bbq) into the TB and it starts, that tells you that you have spark...so fuel is the other variable that needs to be considered...

Check the shrader valve on the fuel rail...see if there is fuel pressure...and check to see if the fuel pumps are starting...if not...check inertia switch to see if that is tripped first...

That should keep you busy for an hour or so...if no joy...let us know!

Could also be that the IAC is not working at all, even after cleaning. It might have been jammed in the open position, providing a high idle. Clean it, and it goes closed, but doesn't open to provide any air.
Try putting your foot on the gas pedal just a bit when you attempt to start the engine. If it fires off, that means you have fuel, air and spark. The last thing you messed with might have been the cause of the no-start.

Know this don't help; but, ....... what he said.
Used to date a gal a hundred years ago whose dad was a NASCAR mechanic. He would tell me when something quit on my junk car, "What did you just fix? Go back and do it over, cause you probably broke it!"

Hello
Put in different injectors cleaned and flowed but used with guarantee. Starts up but seems like it's running on one cylinder.
Previous owner turned the throttle body screw that's why I need to know how to put back to factory setting.
I will check vacume hoses.
I cleaned IAC valve that's when it didn't start. It was stuck shut I think that's why previous owner turned throttle screw.
I unplugged IAC valve so it wouldn't open to recreate same situation as when it ran with no luck.
Not sure what to do next.
Thanks
Mike

Gunk, water, mice, wasps, hornets and squirrels in the gas tank?? Old rusty and deteriorated spark plug wires? Plugs clean and gapped properly?
Did you drain the old fuel & replace with fresh? Or are you going to 'use it up'?

Hello
New
Pump/ sending unit/fuel filter. As stated in first post.
Cleaned tank spotless.
Plug wires newer o.e.
Didn't gap/replace plugs. Ran recently with current plugs.
Throttle plate setting anyone?
Thanks

If it is not running on all cylinders, then you have 3 possible causes, if not more...
1)bad plugs or mis-gapped
2)bad wires
3)mis-routed wires can cause misfire as they should 'cross' at 90degrees
4)wires out of order in the distributor cap
5)if SEFI, mis-wired injectors {should run, just not as well}
6)leaky valves
7)stuck lifters not letting valves seat
8)bad rings leading to poor compression
9)leaky gaskets allowing excess air
10) who needs more than that right now... most possibilities are here
11)the plastic duct after the MAF but before the throttle body cracked, and opens/closes as the engine torques
12)stuck open injector
12)stuck closed injector
12) clogged screen in injector
12)bad power to the injector
12)bad lead from injector to ECM ground
13)intermittent coil problem - and sometimes that happens with 'new'..
14)do you really need more?

That's enough for now!
Thanks
