Ive solid axle swapped my 1999 ford ranger. I swapped the rear 8.8 out for a 1978 f250 dana 60. Now my abs/speed sensor just hangs out by my spare tire carrier under the bed. I wandered if anybody that has done this swap has figured out how to get their speedo to work? I have also swapped my electric t-case to a manual 1354 and it dosent appear to have a spot for a speed cable on it so I dont know what to do. Is there anyway to ever get my speedo to work again?

^^^^ exact same gauge my buddy put into his M37 jeep project. Works excellently!

Damn. Thats pretty pricey. Looks B.A. tho. Instead of payin 300 I might look into just buyin a $100 Garmin and just keep it in the truck. the worse thing with the Garmin is that it has a couple second delay, but then again my truck isnt gonna be seen hangin around the strip. Thanks for the input guys. I would like to keep the thread alive tho in case anybody has figured out how to keep the stock speedo workin with different axles.

put a toothed disk on the output flange of the t/case and mount the original pickup to read it.

I understand what your sayin cause I realize that it counted teeth on the disk attached to the 8.8 ring gear but im not sure how i would go about doing that. Would I need to also take the part of the sensor off the old axle, connect it to my wiring, mount the sensor so that it is facing the output of the t-case? And does the size or number of teeth that i would add to the output on the t-case make a difference? Have you seen anyone do this before. Sorry to ask so many questions but i think this would be something worth a try i just wanna make sure im gettin what your sayin.

yes people have done it. Only issue i see off the top of my head is different rotation speed. maybe you have to get different tooth count to compensate? I would do a search on Pirate4x4.

If you count the number of teeth on the original piece on the original axle and devide that number by your gear ratio, that should give you the number of teeth you need for the t/case mounted sensor. Hint-bicycle gears are available with a multitude of different tooth counts.

If you would have used a 87-up sterling 10.25 instead of the d60 the speed sensor would have just plugged in plus that rear is stronger anyway.
