Ok so here is the story. After fabing and installing my engine cage, radious arms, pivot boxes and x-brace I go to start the truck (1990 Ranger 4.0 auto Prerunner) and it will not start. After checking for fuel, checking all fuses, wires, vac hoses, still no start. I pulled a plug wire and tested - nothing.
I screwed up and didn't disconnect the battery or computer and am wondering if I fried the computer with the welding? Is there a simple way to test the computer without needing a masters from MIT?
Any ideas or suggestions?

not one that i know of. If you have a buddy with a similar year 4.0 steal his, plug it in, and see what happens. If you get real lucky you might find one in the junk yard. Where are you? I have a 94 computer that I will let you try with if you are in my area. It won't be a perfect match, but if your problem is the box it should be enough to get her to fire off.

Does the check engine light come on with the key on, engine off ??

I just remembered. Some parts stores can test them for you, hook them up to a tester or something.
