My truck will start and run, as long as I hold the key in the START position. (I'm assuming it'll stay running, I've never held it for more than a half second.) But, as soon as I let it back to the RUN position the spark stops immediately. However, if I unplug the SPOUT connecter the truck will run.

What could be causing this?

tfi moudle. replace that and all will be good. well i guess you could just get it tested but thats my suspition

Alright, I'd worked through a couple sets of diagnostic instructions and everything pointed to th TFI, figured I'd ask anyhow though.

Don't know what the prices are like down yonder, but it's $180 for a new one up here. So I wanted to be more confident it was my problem.

You can remove the TFI and have it tested at most auto parts stores...be sure to run checks at least 3 times. that way you KNOW that it is the issue

$100 get you a nice one ...$180 seems a touch High

There's isn't an auto parts store that does any specialty testing like that around here, well, any testing at all really.

Far as prices go, you have to keep in mind I'm from Canada. In general it seems a pretty good estimation if you take the American price, double it, factor in exchange rate, then add a few dollars extra just because. :icon_rofl:

For example: Economy ball-joint with 1 year warranty: $85 before taxes.

I'm guessing it also has something to do with living in Northern Ontario, total population 30 000 over an area roughly the size of New York State. :icon_rofl:

Do not buy a TFI for 180 bucks.. I just bought one for 68 bucks, I had to call around to find it tho.. i think i called around 4-5 places most of the places over 170 like what your saying but I did managed to find one for 68 bucks brand new.. I live in British Columbia so i feel your pain when it comes to prices

Thanks,
Syko
