Hey guys new to this forum.
Picked up a 1985 ford ranger single cab long box, dual tanks.
Has a 2.8 carb, 2wd with a automatic trans.
Has only 123xxx Kms
Replaced the fuel filter and plugs to get it going, deal was if I got it started I could take it away, got it from my Grandfather in law.
Well drove it for a few days, put sea foam in it and 94 octane in the tank. It died that night for some reason.
Truck was getting fuel, poured gas down the carb.
No spark.
Tested for spark, had none.
Replaced the cap and rotor, the coil. Started up drove it for 30 minutes.
Parked it and it died.
Replaced the module on the dizzy.
Didn't help.
I then realized that the hull effect, or coil pickup was whooped, completely degrading.
Pulled the dizzy and replaced it.
Still nothing. Turns over but doesn't start.
Checked coil, no spark leaving the primary.
Used a test light to check the positive wire, nice and bright when the ignition was on.
The green wire barely even lit up.
What am I missing. Why am I not getting spark???
Help
