I searched but surprisingly did not find any threads about this issue. Twice now I've started up my 6 week old '19 Ranger and the radio display shows on but there is no sound. Even the chimes don's make any noise. I found a couple of videos on YouTube about other people experiencing this but no real solution. It just starts working again when it want's to.

Anyone else?

Loose connections

Got a brand new 150 a few months back.....4 days old...glitched out and ate the o2 sensor and tables for throttle and shift stratagy because the dash connector was loose.

Brand new blazer two streets over...
Burned to ground from that. My daughter just bought one of those....

Shit happens. But that 150 and Madisyns blazer are not allowed any where near my garage

Like I said....shit happens..

I would start by going to a Ford Dealer. I am sure it is covered under warranty. Once you go in and start taking things apart, the warranty could be void.

There is a MUTE function on Ford Radio's, it always mutes on startup, and usually when in Reverse

This system can go awry and mute and unmute on its own

Google: ford radio mutes unexpectedly

What exactly "glitched out"???

People buy new vehicles and think they are in the clear for issues or shop repairs and that is far from the truth..... New cars are built by mostly robots but guess who programs the robots? People do and people make mistakes. I used to work at a Honda factory and built the turbines inside the torque converters and they would let so much stuff "pass inspection" it really makes you think about buying a new vehicle.... Plus they hire and fire more people in a month than most regular businesses do in years. We had 2 temp services IN THE BUILDING because they went through so many people they had to keep them coming in to keep up with production.

Go do a factory tour (if they will let you with the covid crap goin on) and just take a look at some of they yahoos working their.

It sounds like there is a couple of possible solutions for you to look at.

I would go with the “take it to the dealer” recommendation first. You have a warranty, make them honor it and make them fix it. You paid for it.

If the display is still working, I’d say it’s an issue in the APIM. Take it to the dealer and have them check it out. Let us know what they find.

Right after I posted this I drove somewhere and something new happened. The radio was playing at the volume level I had left it at the night before but I couldn't adjust it. Turn it up, down, nothing. It just stayed at the same volume. So....I unplugged my phone and turned off bluetooth and everything worked normally. I plugged the phone back in and the problem reappeared. I'm suspecting this is an Apple Carplay issue. Not surprising.

My son in law actually worked on it at the plant.

He is one of the good workers.

Or he would not be my son in law.

Only one in Assembly, all of the rest of my family is in engineering and development.

I get some tours no one else can.

Hopefully it's just an apple thing....and it don't try to kill ya because apple hates Ford's or something.

Apple devices don't play well with others, their business model is "if you use Apple then anything connected must be Apple", from cables to wireless, so comes down to money, hey it's a business, people vote with their wallet

You need to buy an Apple Truck :)

Tesla.....is that an apple truck.

Well it's very consistent now. EVERY time I plug my phone in it disables the volume control.

This totally blows.
