Have changed out the diff fluid on a 1999 & a 2001 Rangers w/ 2x4 drive, non-posi rear.

Have a newer 2011 now, has a posi rear (aka traction-Lock). Don't have a service manual. Any online links to a shop manual? Watching ebay for a reasonably priced 2011 shop manual.

IIRC, when you change the diff fluid out, on a Traction-lock rear, Ford specs a small bottle of anti-friction lube?? How many bottles of this stuff for a 2011 2x4 rear diff?

Thanks!

Friction Modifier is what you mean and you need 4 oz. Get genuine ford for it I think the PN# is XL3. If its the 3.8 oz bottle thats fine.

Yup, 1 bottle of cat piss as we call it.

Wait, I thought it was whale sperm. Cat piss is what we put in the little tank on the 6.7 diesels.

No no, you're wrong. That's weasel piss.

Got the friction modifier for my Traction Lock rear for the weekend diff oil change. My 2011 Ranger owners manual specifies 80W-90. Can't find that anywhere. So over the years I have used 75W-90 and its all been good. Now I'm reading on various forums some mention of a Ford TSB that now specifies 75W-140 & no need for Friction Modifier?

Is there a copy of this Ford TSB floating around that I can read? Otherwise I'm sticking w/ 75W-90 & 4oz of Friction Modifier.

Edit... Found alleged Ford TSB 05-23-3, Ranger isn't even mentioned on it. So definetly sticking w/ 75W-90
