I have a 92 Ranger with a 4.0. I am have a problem with it not starting. I have started it after work and stopped on the way home and it won't start, just click. The battery is less than a year old, the starter is 2 or 3, selenoid is a year new connecters on battery before I bought the battery. When it din't start on the way home I checked the starter conection and got it to start, last Thursday I rechecked the conection and cleaned it re tighted wire on starter. It started fine till this afternoon and the temp here has been record low till today. I got it to start with a jump but the battery wasn't dead just no power getting to anything, horn ,lights, radio. I had a similar problem with a 85 Ranger I had and it was a relay behind the passenger side kick panel. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Might be the starter relay on the fender wall. If you don't get power there, the rest of the truck won't start. Can you jump the relay to start it? If you can, then the relay needs replaced.

I replaced it 2 times once before I replaced the battery and another time when I was checking the nut and tightend it to much and broke the stud off.

I fixed a no start issue on someone's truck last year...there are two or three wires connected to the starter and one of them was no connecting properly...had to cut out the wire and put on a new connector and it started right up...

I think it was a red wire but can't remember exactly...if the starter works when you jump it then crawl under and wiggle the wires while someone tests the starter with the ignition...make sure it's in neutral or park while you're under there...eh!
