no power after new engine install

hi all,,,had to replace engine cam lobe wore down killing a cylinder,,,picked up a long block 2,9 and swapped it in,,,had to swap injector harness and fuel rail over,to new engine,,,got it in no start,,,found distibuter 1 tooth off,,,,set timing starts and idles great!,,,now is where problem shows up,,no power,,,i mean none,,,,full throttle to maintain 50 mph in 5th gear,,,,on level road,,,,put in new injectors,,,,no diff,,,,no check engine lites,,,,,swapped throttle body,,no diff,,,,swapped map sensor no diff,,,checked comp,,175 all cyl,,,checked fuel press,,good at idle and rpm,,,,,,am wondering what next,,,am leaning toward ignition sys,,,thinking distributor that came with eng might not be compatible with my computer,,,still have the original dist so am going to try that,,,any other ideas,,,,,oh,,swapped tps,,,,and new 02 sensor,,,,,help!!!!!!!

Did you disconnect the spout when you set your timing? Their is a diagram and instructions on the radiator support on what to do.
 
Just a few thoughts;
How about a sever restriction in the exhuast....cat plugged up?

also (didn't see in your list) how about a fuel filter?

would also check the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

have you managed to get it up to temp? any better or worse cold or up to temp?

Yeah..gotta agree with the plugged cat idea, I've seen a couple fail, and that seems to be standard symptoms..gutless as heck, idles great but as soon as you try to put power to it, the exhaust can't get out fast enough and bogs the motor.
 
Just another thought;
double check the rotor and distributor cap....if they are corroded or a cracked cap will act like that too...in short good tune up...plugs, wires, cap and rotor.

Vacuum leak somewhere??? agreed, seems that you've covered your bases.
Bad gas???

how about...this maybe extreme...harmonic balancer is bad/slipped...rubber is detereated and doen't show correct timing.

happened to me, rotor was pointing at number one cylinder just like it was supposed to, then i timed it and TDC was 30* off still and wouldnt even run when i moved it to where it was supposed to be
 
well,,,swapped in differant distributer,,,no diff,,,will look at timing marks next,,,,am surprised it would run as smooth as it does if timing is that far off,,,but hey,,,i am running out of ideas,,,i do have the balancer from my old eng still will try that! thanks guys!
 
disconnected o2 sensor,,,no diff,,,,i forgot to say earlier that i have about 3000 miles since install,,,,i don't drive it much so i have been just living with the no power thing,,,,,now it is overheating so i put in new thermostat and waterpump,,,,altho old pump looked fine am leaning toward balancer/ignition timing thing as that would cause overheating too,,,it is pushing water out overflow tank,,,tried new cap samr thing,,,,getting desperate,,,i might have to bring it in and put it on scanner! uck!!!
