i have an 88 ranger with a 2.9 and just got it running again but i have no power ive take off the spark plug wires while it was running and on 3 of them theres no drfferince in the idle like there not working one of the 3 was clean like it didnt even fire i chenged them with new ones and still no luck its backfireing a little also but only after reving it

have you verified that they are sparking? Are they wet with gas?

This happened to me one time. Did you mess around with the injector wiring at all? Since it is a batch fire system each bank must be wired correctly. When I swapped the motor in my 88 with another 2.9 i put all of the injector wires on the right bank except for the first 2. One bank fired and the other did not. I believe that it would not ground the other side cause it was receiving the signal from the other side. Either way I had no idea why she had no power until I pulled all 3 plug wires off of one side of the motor while running and it made no difference. Figured out my error and shes been on all 6 ever since. That is really the only thing that would get no fire on 3 cylinders on your motor i can think of.

Glad you've got it going! What was wrong with it? It might help us help you on finding out whats up with your truck.

Have you checked timing? I know it's obvious but it sounds like it could be the timing.

I saw that on your other thread. Thats good

Just a thought but..Did you put the spout plug into the new harness? Did it come with a new one?

If it's not there, it's not going to advance.

I know, its a shot in the dark but figured I'd give out anything I could think of to help

ok so i figured it out thanks to 177CIOfPureLove it was thw injector wires i had replaced them but the person b4 me did the same and reversed the wires a little farther down from where i did so now she should be good i also fixed a huge oil leak that started from my valve cover and broke a fuel line so it should be goin soon o ya and my flywheel is bad haha damn fords but i love them
