No more NJ mech inspect!!!!!and gear ?'s

mhughes....where you been fool?

UT still has inspections...friggin' Nazis here...

Body Lifts are Illegal now.

WHAT?? was there a big number of accidents caused by them? thats insane. i can see them banning homemade body lifts because we can only imagine what some guys would use :icon_rofl: but not a good body lift

Florida stopped it as well several years ago...look around you....so many bald tires on the road, tires that are way under inflated, cracked windows or missing windows, smoke clouds coming out of pos vehicles that need severe service or engine emission control devices that are not working or have been removed...and you think it is cool? All of us will pay for this at some point in time. I think it is a shame that states are doing away with it. What is worse...most of these people who drive these vehicles don't have or can't afford enough auto insurance.

And all that happens in states with inspections as well... which is why the are doing away with it.

Tires go bald, have slow leaks, windows crack, engines don't run right... nobody cares until right before it has to go get inspected. Shortly after that the people that won't maintain them without inspections no longer care about tire pressure, the bird they hit that cracked the windshield, or that it isn't running right... until it is due for inpection the next year. Unless they can pay off their buddy to pass them that is.

I work with a guy from Missouri where they have inspections. His old '92 GMC has shot cab mounts, virtually no exhaust, runs pig rich and won't back up in the winter without warming up for a good 5 minutes... and he had a current inpsection sticker.

What really scares me is that farmers get a free pass on weight limits hauling grain in the fall... and can do their own inspections on their trucks. And then nobody can figure out why the roads are SHOT.

my computer went down like the hinderberg, and 38's aint that huge for a ranger, the one in my pick has 40's on it, and technically ill be havin 39.5s on my 1978 F-250 RANGER Explorer

If you get pulled over in OK, the highway patrol and other law enforcement agencies have the right to do a mechanical inspection on ur vehicle and steeply fine u for violations.

Inspections are such a joke anyways. They would charge 5 bucks to mlook over ur vehicle and check the normal things. If u knew the right people it was just a 5 dollar sticker on the window.

In TX around Houston it was the same. If ur vehicle wouldn't pass, u would find someone who would.

I see ur point. I was at a gas station this mornind and saw an old 3/4 ton Ford w bald tires. I mean smooth.

People find ways around the insurance too. My ex wife went w/out for long periods of time.

I was just talking about this at lunch. I wonder how many lawsuits there will be from idiots and their horrible cars. Just imagine how pissed off you'd be if some guy with bald tires, no brakes slams into you. You'd wonder if the inspection would of kept that from happening.

I do know of a 4x4 place in PA called "up and over". They're over in DE County.

i dont think it makes a difference, i know people and know places that you can just pay for a sticker, its been happening forever, not to mention i can get my truck inspected today, and the brakes can blow out tomorrow and tires can get bald in a year and i would still have a year to drive like that til re-inspection

No, It would not stop it from happening, see below response.

Exactly. Well put.

I'm a state inspector. When I inspect stations its for the time that they are being inspected. What happens afterwards....................

When I lived in Nj the state inspectors would lift the front of your car to check the front end "for play"

the problem was that TWICE in the act of picking up my Saab 900Turbo they BENT
one or both lower control arms.

I made what is now coined as "a terroristic threat" every time thereafter that I had
that car inspected....

:icon_rofl: :icon_rofl: :icon_rofl: they had a little bit too much fun with my cobra mustang a few years back, kept roasting the tires before testing the brakes on the brake pad, and then backing up and doing it again, i let it go til they were going for the 4th try and told them to just fail it if they need to keep "playing around" til it passes, so they got mad and failed me for brakes "which were brand new and worked flawlessly" so i had to buy a sticker for it

them roasting the tires would have gotten someone, probably more than one some broken bones.

Failing the car because they were screwing around with your tires
and you got upset about it?

I'd like to get something like that captured on a video camera phone, then not only make them buy new tires but get them all fired.

Has it occoured to anyone that it was because of such behavior and the liability of the state in those circumstances is why they closed all the inspection stations?

I don't understand why people choose to live in and register their vehicles in such over reaching nanny states, myself.

Why did they do away with state inspections? That does not stimulate the economy lol. I can understand how it doesnt really make a difference anyway, go to the right shop and they will pass you. I hate inspection time, I am always worried I'll have to replace a damn ball joint.

its defiantly a economy stimulator.

never thought this would happen in this administration

like pt ....fukemnannybullsheet

you guys talk about how the POS cars dont get fixed until inspections. well when they do inspection quite afew times the car would go in fine no problems......they do their little devil magic and itll start smoking or a brake cylinder with start leaking or worse and it was good on the regular maintenance schedule until the techs start messing with it. Dont even get me started on the front end play test. that was the stupidest test I have ever seen and will prolly ever see. They have wrecked more suspensions with that test than anyone can even count
