No headlights

are the fuses in the box the right amp fuses?

It has the right fuses, its been stock and unmolested until yesterday that the lights quit working

seems like the extra load of the relay coils sint that big to make the switch burn the fuse, but idk. maybe thats the reason, ill try to take it to an electrician tomorrow.

I was hoping that the painter would have my moms truck ready today, but he didint :annoyed: slowass painter. Now i cant do work that requires mine to be out of comission because we dont have the other truck.
Weird thing is: the running lamps work fine, its just the head lights that wont work.

are your light bulbs dual filament? maybe you just blew half the light?

I'm looking at a wiring diagram for your truck and there seems to be two fuses numbered 4 & 8 inside the cab for both low beams on the headlights. Did you check those to see if the were both blown?

Not even the high beam light on the dash will work, at first i had highs if i pulled the lever(wipers/light change) but when i removed the rests of the fuse, they were all gone

i checked em, and both are fine.

I didnt had time to check today, at all. But tomorrow ill take a deep look and start checking for voltages with a meter. ill test the switch too.

That makes me think multifunction switch. Check for power going in and coming out of the multifunction switch. Same thing for headlight switch.

Wonder if the multiswitch is causing the issue?

Yeah, ill check both. The wipers work fine.
Idk if the same fuse works for both switches tho.

ohh ok.
the Ac fuse seems to be a bit melted too btw, ill get pics tomorrow

I managed to clean the fuse concats and installed a new fuse.
Still no lights, only if i pull the switch back, as if im flashing the high lights.
I had it that way for a while and the fuse started to melt again.

Seems like thge switch is overloading/overheating it

ok update.
i replaced the multifucntion switch, and still no lights.
so i decided to check the dash swtich, i opened it and found that the copper track for the headlights was burnt. I soldered some tin and it works now, i have lights again. but the fuse keeps melting.

could it be just that the switch is bad, even that i made it work again?
or something worst?

If you're talking about the Main Light Switch, I think it's not too expensive, 20 bucks or so. It would be worth replacing just to find out.

It's possible that there is a short downstream from the switch that's drawing too much current and melting the fuse and trace. I'd try disconnecting both headlights from their connectors and then try it and see if it gets hot.

I have an intermittent in my Ranger's headlights. I looked at the Main Light Switch today and the harness connector looks like it's been warm too long at some point. I plan to replace it soon, maybe tomorrow.
