I've got a 2000 Ranger 4X4 3.0 5 speed flex fuel. Yesterday I changed the oil and noticed the battery terminals were corroded so I cleaned both, removing the negative terminal first then the positive, replacing in opposite order, ie, pos first, then negative. When done, I took a ride to a friend's house, about 20 miles, and several times along the way, both the 4WD High and 4WD Low lights would flash about six times simultaneously. I got to my friends house ok. No lights flashed on my way home. Was this just the computer resetting after having the battery disconnected, or should I be concerned? I replaced the battery twice before and this never happened. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks

Do you have vacuum hubs on your 2000? My 98 does and my 4x4 lights flashed like yours. I replaced one of the vacuum lines running to a front hub and the lights were back to normal. The rubber line had just rotted away. Might just be a coincidence with the timing of your battery work.
