Purchased a 1999 ranger 4.0L 4x4 four door. Knew the transmission (5R55E automatic) had the 2-3 flare and transmission was shuttering in reverse. Replaced the filter, separator plate gaskets, and solenoids along with reverse Servo and gaskets. No change. Pulled a larger trailer (heavy). Came home When it shifted from second to go into third it just reved up? Put it in 2 manually and limped it home. Next day I went to diagnose it no reverse at all? I am having problems finding a used one and don’t want to have the same problems I currently have in a few miles. Remanufactured they are outrageously high. I’m looking for suggestions? Maybe replace the valve body? Reverse band is not broke and has spring. I don’t want to rebuild it myself but am capable. Hit me up with your advise??
