I've posted this all over RPS and nobody's gotten back to me on it so please please please help me out this is a huge pain in the backside

Basically I've swapped a 4.0 SOHC into my 99 and now everything works, fuel pump primes, etc. when i turn the key to "on" but when I try to start the truck nothing happens. I've replaced the starter because it was old anyways and still nothing. Im using the engine harness and computer from a 98 expo with SCT pro racer.

Shorted out the solenoid and seen if it will turn over? I'd do that to see if it would start and run if it was mine.. If it did run after that I'd be looking backward at the starting system to see what wasn't allowing the start signal to pass.

Yea I just put a brand new starter in it, it engages when tested off the vehicle so I guess its down to the signal from the ignition. I guess what I'm really looking for is confirmation that I've got the correct wiring. Haven't really been able to find anything that shows this swap in detail.

On my 94 4.0 there are 2 wires running to the starter, big wire to turn the starter and a smaller one that shoots the gear out to turn the flexplate, is yours the same way? also is it in park or neutral and is the saftey switch hooked up?

yea theres the main power wire and the ignition signal to trigger the solenoid. I have a manual transmission and i've check the clutch interlock switch several times and it works. I haven't touched any of the wiring inside the cab during the swap so everything should still work. the only thing i've changed is my engine, engine wire harness and PCM.

swapped the engine in my truck, used my wiring harness because I didn't want any shorts..I had to splice one connector and I'm good, might need to compare your connections and wiring order

hmmm i havent had to splice any connections up to this point, im running 99 ranger body harness (headlights, abs, etc) with a 98 expo engine harness. Does your ignition signal wire (yellow/gray) run through a plug with 5 wires (including yellow/gray) and its black coloured male/female sides? should be just under the power distribution box. As far as i know everything is wired properly.
