its a '06 cbr600 f4i...i really like the paint scheme....

this would be my first bike, but i have been riding dirt bikes/ 3/4wheelers my whole life, so i really know how to ride, just not really with a speedo.(haha)

just wanted to know what you guys thought...?

Sharp ride, Bro. Remember.....it is not like riding in the dirt. Just take it easy get used to that bike and don't let any friends talk you into riding over your head!!! I lost a few good friends becaus of this. It takes awhile to become a good safe rider!!!

I could never advocate a hiper-bike for your first on-pavement ride. Doing combat with cars is serious business and those things are just way too fast/fun not to hammer. I would seriously consider something a little more sedate for your first bike. The three and 4 wheeler experience will help but it is not the same. When you crash, and you will, pavement is just brutal and unforgiving. Throw in a 16 year old bimbo with 6 of her friends in an SUV chatting, texting and yacking on the phone... all at the same time and you have a recipe for disaster. And you will come out the looser. Cars really are out to get you. Proceed with caution my son. If you get a street bike, ride paranoid and never leave the house unless you are in full gear. Minimum of gloves (good ones), jacket (leather or good ballistic nylon), helmet (Full face! Don't be cheap!), jeans or more leather and boots (protect your ankles).

Don't let all this talk scare you. Bikes are a ton of fun. They just require a little more brain use. Hopefully you get it and love it. But take it easy and remember what crbnunit and straycat said. Don't be an idiot and ALWAYS watch other drivers because there is a reason for "Start Seeing Motorcycles" bumper stickers. Let us know if you buy it and as always: PICS PICS PICS if you do.

It is true. Motorcycles are a blast. I have been riding since I could walk, almost literally. I have raced both on and off pavement and have the scars and stories to prove it. I hope you have a long and distinguished career but on the street, the learning curve is steep and unforgiving. Always know where you are, never ride faster than the conditions allow, never ever go fast over terrain you don't know and have ridden recently, always have an escape plan and always expect that car to do the absolutely worst thing it can do. Follow these suggestions and you will seldom be surprised. It is all about situational awareness.

Even a 600 is frighteningly fast. Be careful and have fun!!!

If you want a low down of what you should look for PM me and I will give you the low down. I have a 94 CBR F2 and a overall CBR junkie.

I ride a cruiser and was looking at getting more of a street bike a while back. Crbnunit is right, 600 is still blazing fast!! As the others have said, keep your head screwed on the right way and you'll have so much fun!!

Awesome looking bike tho, I'm with ya on the paint job!!

thanks guys....i know to expect the unexpected, even then there are things you wont see coming.....i know there is ALOT of power there, and i know full gear would be essential.

Not to jack the thread, but just yesterday only a few hours after I typed post 4. I was on my way home from work on my Honda cb750 and some idiot did a rolling stop at a stop sign and didn't even see me. Pulled right on out in front of me and I was doing 55mph, I was able to swerve around him but I still ended up on the sidewalk (I got lucky enough to drive up a crosswalk so there was no curb at the corner). Then the idiot never even looked back or stop to see if I was ok.

I was able to get that extra second or two by watching him rolling up to the corner and assume that he was going to do exactly what I didn't want him to do. So I started to slow down just a little bit and notice any options that I had. He pulled out and the best option I had was the sidewalk (since no people were anywhere around).

Just so you know fili450r, that kind of thinking comes with riding for awhile. I have been riding motorcycles(and dirtbikes) for over 10 years(which really isn't all that long). Often I don't think ahead like that on purpose, it's more of a reaction. It sounds wierd, but it's kind of like when a hot girl walks in the room you automatically take a look and if she comes your way what are you going to do. Well, when you are coming up on an intersection with other cars you automatically take a look around and if they come your way what are you going to do.
I feel that riding motorcycles has made me a better more responsive driver in my car as well, which is probably why I have never been in an accident. I hope you get the bike, you'll definately have fun with it. Not to mention that women tend to love a guy that rides a motorcycle.

First off, im glad your ok man.

i have learned from a young age to watch intersections ahead...not saying im amazing at it, but i always do that....

defensive driving is always how i try to drive.
