new here to the site and i have a couple of questoins which probably have been answered but i cant seem to find the anwer im looking for but i have been reading and researchng about the sas. im lookin to get a second gen ranger, with a donor truck for axles and parts to do a swap with leaf setup in the front.i see people using a chevy 6in leafs for the front but what do you use in the rear for a leaf setup also what are you using for the driveshafts are the stock ones adequate enough and if not what should i get or use and is a body lift required aslo.any help in anwering my question or pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated.

Your going to need a 6" lifted leaf in the rear to match, or a set of reg leafs (from donar truck) with blocks, but I never recomend that route. The drive shafts may need to be shortend of lengthend depending upon axle locaton and t-case location. Most likely they will need to be longer front and rear in order to work with the flex of your leaf set up crawling, mudding, etc. Square drive shafts are always an option but not for DD if thats what your trying build. A body lift would only be needed if while during flex your tires rub on it. if not, no need. (never have liked them) Hope this helps.

what is the donor truck?

the donor truck i have coulpe to chose between 78-79 f150 4wd.i should of asked in the suspension fourm about the leafs.sorry also i would like the truck able to be driving on the street alittle so i would have to go to my local driveline shop and have them build some drive shafts then correct or is there something better to use like out of another truck.thanks alot for the input

So will you be running the carbed engine from the old 78/79 ford or going with an efi set up? efi will be a bit more and unless your doing some serious crawling all the time a carbed engine may be the way to go in order to save some green. Mudding is usualy in a straight line balls to the wall and deep. That is, im assuming going with full size axles you will be doing a V8 swap as well. :icon_hornsup: When you say "on the streets a little".......from your driveway down the road to to where you wheel or like plates and the hole street legal set up?.... I have heared of guys running square drive shafts up to 45mph w/o shake but no chance after that. I would venture to guess that your driveshafts will need to be longer and a shop can do that for you. You can do it yourself too. Lost af peope have. You just need to make sure and keep it square and straight.

reg. cab and extended will make a diff on drive shaft length as well...
