newbie needing ranger tech advice!! 1928 model A pickup with 99 ranger running gear

I like it so far keep it up. I think a bronco 2 tank might be suited for that truck its not very long. Although now that I think about it it might be too wide..

panama the cowl tank is in great shape no rust at all and seems like it could hold some pressure.

andy. the tank was a gravity feed system with a cap on the top...it could be a vented cap but not certain. when i started building the truck i wanted to use the cowl tank but wasent sure if i could cause i dont know a whole lot about what it would take to do it as far as pressure/regulator and what it had to have to keep the computer happy. all of it is above my head. how would you go about hooking it up if it were yours in detail?

Why...........I'd take everything outta the Ranger tank & put it in the cowl tank......(still seems that it would be better to buy a junkyard tank that is the right dimensions & adapt the Ranger tank innards to the J.Y. tank...you'd definately have more volume...)

hey whats up guys, i had the gas tank built by a guy on here at crazy talk customs and wow!!! he did a awesome job and machined a adaptor to fit stock tank sending unit in it. been doing the little things on it that takes forever to do so now we have started to figure out the wiring set up.

i also need another question answered. i need to use after market guages for this truck to keep the interior vintage looking.i need everything from temp to gas guages. what would i need to use to make this work with the stock ranger setup and could you reccomend a brand of guage or part number of a fuel guage you guys use for aftermarket set ups tied into stock parts? thanks guys for all your help. even tho some of my pics were deleted prob for being off topic i hope you guys have enjoyed them. kinda oddball for this site aswell as hot rod sites but just trying to break diff ground on car building in my area.

When I was a kid, I remember a replica / kit car of a Model A that used an IH 4 cylinder . The 2.3 prolly has more HP than any of the flatty V8s that were the classic hot rod engines. Can you get a disc brake kit for the front end? That is gonna be a nice DD. :D

Vintage-looking aftermarket gauges will cost twice as much or more than aftermarket gauges from an auto parts store. BUT...I wanted quality aftermarker gauges for my truck--I bought Classic Gauges which had the correct sending units to work with my engine....(there are other manufacturers of good gauges). Just make sure that the manufacturer has a gas gauge/sending unit that will work with your tank--then buy the other gauges to match the gas gauge.......my thread: post #23/#28/#263/#266/has pics and comments .....basically---try to match the pre-existing holes in the dash to the gauges that you want to buy (or enlarge the existing holes in the dash to fit new aftermarket gauges).

andy d....this truck has disc brakes on the front. i took the stock model A suspension out front and back and now have a new straight axle with mustang2 front disc brakes from speedway motors and a stock 1999 ford ranger rear end with ranger leaf springs. i love traditional hot rods with flatheads and all but i wanted something deadnutz reliable, better on gas and something that can take the beating of everyday use while still being a 1928 ford pickup. i scrapped the stock model A chassis andme and my buddy built a homemade 2x4 chassis with a K member.
