Patience Padawan...

everybody has probably been busy this past weekend and have not had time to consider your reply.

In the meantime, do a search on the site, many of the items you are asking about have been discussed quite a bit.

As for cold air intake, the stock intake is pretty much a cold air intake as it is, and other than a "it looks cool" factor, the only thing you are going to get with a K & N or similar is a lighter wallet. Plus the after market cold air intakes will let water flow through it very easily, which can be a huge issue if you are out wheeling/mudding and hit a deep water hole. that stock paper filter will give you an extra second or two to kill the engine yourself before the water does.

Throttlebody spacers are a complete waste of time and money.

Not sure what you mean by free wheeling hubs... the 98 if it is all stock has the vacuum activated hubs (Not a great idea or design on Ford's part, again do a search...) and if you are not in 4wd, your front wheels are not engaged to the drive axles. There are a few manual hub conversion kits out there for the 98 - 00, do a search and there are quite a bit of threads on how to install them and which is the best set. you can start with the stickied thread in this forum on 98+ specific problems.

Exhaust, search the exhaust forums. I t hink for the most part it is a personal preference.

If the mechanical fan clutch is working properly, I see no reason to ditch it and put an electric fan system in ( you will not gain hp, the drag that the e-fan will put on the alternator will offset any gains that you will get by not turning the fan clutch). If the mechanical clutch is shot, either replace it with a new clutch or do a search on this site for a Taurus e-fan swap.

good day sir.

Chill, Grasshopper. Meditate!!! You don’t even have a truck yet!!! Wait until you buy something before you get all wet thinking about mods. Once you have your ride of a lifetime your essence will be as one….lol

I tried a cold air intake and all it was just junk. Wasted 50 bucks and did nothing for me. Like stray cat said, wait until you get the truck. You don't want to start adding mods immediately when you get the truck. There might be some stuff that might need to be replaced or something. I have owned my truck for two years and I haven't started adding mods until 6 months ago. I still have work to do on it, but I added mods on it such as cab lights and manual locking hubs for Christmas! :headbang:

Be patience and you'll eventually be adding a lift kit with some 33's on her! You'll be glad that you got all the bad stuff replaced and have her ready to get her all beefed up! :D

bolt on advice

thankks for all the replies guys my friend owns the 98 in question
and I just have to pull the trigger and go pick it up.
then start on the goodies. one last question if I
dont do headers should I go with duals or single?
