Ok, i have a 96 ranger ex-cab 2wd 2.3 5 speed with a 7.5 open axle with 3.73 gears.
first question is: I want to make it a limited slip because winters coming up and my truck barely goes anywhere when its dry. How would be the best way to achieve this? swapping out the axle with one with a l/s already in it or using a http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=FMS%2DM%2D4204%2DC75&N=700+4294924746+4294908331+4294907827+4294925134+115&autoview=sku to upgrade the axle i have?
my trucks is used only for on-road driving so i don't think i need to upgrade to an 8.8. So the second question is did they make a 7.5 with a limited slip? if so will it be hard to find one?
my third question is about gearing. i have a 3.73 set of gears and was thinking about swapping them out for a set of 4.10. my trucks has stock wheels and tires on it. I'm just looking to get some more "omph" out of the little 2.3. is this a solid idea or am i out of the ballpark on this one?
sorry for all the questions in one post but I'm pretty much a newbe when it comes to axles (drove front wheel drive cars up until now)
thanks in advance, nathan
