New to this site and thought I would say Hi.

Just purchased a 97 mazda B4000.
I would also like to ask if anyone has done a timing chain gasket and if so how difficult is it.
Any tips or hints. The Truck has a small leak at the top of the cover.

Any help would be great..
Thanks Floyd :icon_cheers:

It is sort of matter of fact! Ya take this and that off to get to it and then you clean both surfaces and put it all back together. It's a great little truck.

Do you need to raise the engine to get to the oil pan?

no, but i don't think the timing chain gasket is close to that even? i'm not sure. i have a '97 ranger 4.0 but mines a push rod engine.

I have the push rod also. The timing chain cover goes right down to the oil pan. So is the timing chain cover screwed into the oil pan or is it only into the block.

Hi, yes there are a few bolts that will go through the oilpan. they need to come out. however, you don't need to pull the oil pan off. when you put the cover back on have some gasket maker in case you will need to reseal the front of the pan.

Thanks Angie. Do you know if the oil pan bolts are accessable without lifting the engine on a 4x4.

Hi, sorry for not responding sooner (forgot about this thread) No idea on a 4X4, mine is 2 wheel drive. you will have to look at your rig's setup to answer your question. One thing to keep in mind thou, USE a torque wrench and tighten to spec.

Ok Thanks I will be doing this memorial day weekend.
