Our build is an 83 ranger single cab, and the window felts are dried out and rotten. Since we are painting the cab I pulled them out of the doors to tape better, and was wondering if they are common, or do i need to special order new ones now? or will any auto body place be able to get them for us and install them.

thanks

You can still buy them from places like LMC, or a body shop can probably order them in for you. They are called window seal kits and run around $60...but that price may be high or low depending on the colour of the moon today...

That should get you an idea of what to order if you want to do it yourself...

Thanks again mark.

I figured that they had to still be available. will need the complete window set. the top rubber and the sides were shot. is this an easy install, or is it something better left to the guys at the body shop/window places? never heard of LMC before, i will be looking through the catalog

thanks

Replacing the window runs is not hard, just involved. On the early Rangers you pretty much have to completely disassemble the door because of the metal section at the rear that keeps them rigid.

Unfortunately that means dealing with pop rivets. Honestly, the only dicey part is getting the pins out of the rivets on the window glass.

On my 84 I dont remember them being that bad. I never had to take the door apart either (I went with the new rubber style). I rolled the windows down, pulled what was left of the stock molding and put the new ones in. I then rolled up the window to make sure it was all seated. Might be different on your 83 though. Mine were the rubber 1 piece.
