new valve gaskets = 4th gear and OD?

hello,


when i first bought the truck OD sliped and i didnt have 4th gear but i just changed my valve cover gaskets and now both OD and 4th seem to be working. is this a normal thing?

OD and Fourth? Guessing this is a manual?
Definitely not a normal thing as those gaskets have nothing to do with the trans. You may have messed with a vacuum line that could of effected it..I know auto's use vacuum but honestly, I dont think Manual's do (correct me if I'm wrong)

no it is an automatic. damdest thing i changed the driver gasket one day and the OD started working better, changed the passanger side gasket the next day and all of a sudden at 55 mph it shifted gears. i did find that when i changed the passanger gasket the PVC valve hose was not on all the way to the intake?

Hmmm Like I said..The only thing I can think of was that something was done with that vacuum line. Well...At least it's fixed now right?

yea but now i need to have it looked at fluid changed gasket and replace the flywheel then itll be set.

Did you ajust the kick down cable? it runs next to the driverside valve cover...

BTW 4th gear is overdrive.

yea i found a post here that mentioned doing that and i did it about a week before i redid my gaskets. either way its working now.
