got some new tools for my birthday from my parents this past tuesday. 189pc craftsman set outa the catalog. tons of sockets, 2 sets of wrenches, nut drivers, hex wrench and torx sets, n screwdrivers. so begins the start of my collection:wub: also my dad said...."good, now you can use yours instead of mine" haha

congrats,good start on the tools.

i know what you mean,my dad still watches me close in his garage.doesn't help when i start measuring with a tape measure or seeing how his grinder is bolted down.do it just to mess with him.

If it has the name craftsman on it, then I consider it a hammer lol. Can always take it back and get a new one.

when your done wrenching whipe them clean, good habit to get in to. good luck with your new tools and happt birth day

Good start on tools.

Your still gonna be raiding his tools for years to come though untill you collect all those other little things that you need.

I have been building my collection since i was 10.

I was still raiding my dads tools for another 4 years.

Don't take your truck apart!!!!

Take your moms car apart!

Get an engraver or stamp set and get them marked, if they turn up in someone elses' box you can prove they are your's. I marked all of my 4 yr old grandson's tools, And YES he knows how to use them!! Greg

Haha, I'm the other way around, I have to teach my dad, but then again, if I need to do any wood working, he's the one I come to.

Happy birthday, and it sounds like you got a good start on your tool box (it will never be full, and you'll always need more, trust me, my tool box is taller then I am, and about 5 feet wide, and I'm still needing more)

mine said the same thing when i got my first two automotive certifcations he bought me a rolling box with top chest with tons of tools. thing is mine are at the dealership i work at so his are all i use at home.

Thats why you have two tool boxes, one at home with your old/replaced tools, and the good one at work with your Snap-on and Mac tools :D

Thats why you have two tool boxes,

yea i already have another box going, but thats got my machinist tools in it. gerstner chest and kennedy base. that one is in the shop at school. i gotta find a job n figure out if i'm even going to need those machinist tools for work before i buy more of those. (some places supply them). but boy i tell ya, i hope i get my dads stuff when he retires lol, bout 20 g's in mechanics and machinist tools:shok::shok::shok:

with tools you typically get what you pay for. Craftsman are hit/miss, but I like them. Im actually fond of the husky line from home depot and even stanley from wal mart. But I know the feeling of getting a huge tool set, its awesome. But, i'd suggest you do what i do and get socket holders, if not the first time you drop that plastic case youll be picking up sockets forever. BTW walmart and peddlers malls tend to have cheap socket holders. get the metal ones.
