Well my steady rest isn't quite right. It fits the bed of the lathe just fine but the center line of the chuck and tailstock is about 1/2" higher than the center of the rest. Kind of weird. It was advertised as being for a South Bend 9c... I have a 9a... supposedly the only difference is that mine has a quick change gear box and the 9c does not.
Think I'll have to make a spacer to go under it. That should have me fixed up. I can use it as-is, it just limits the side of material that will fit through the rest somewhat since the bottom two fingers need to be set really high.
