I just recently bought a 98 ranger for 1000 bucks....is in great shape for the money is an old farm truck that runs and drives like new.....

now for the question/s.

I have sifted threw the tech library an endless amount of times to try to see what my best route for lifting is on a budget.

I still dont know the lingo and what years all the "budget lifts" are.

I want something simple and reliable.

how do I inexpensively get a 2 to 3 inch lift on all four corners and have the truck sit relatively level?

I am thinking blocks....cheap enough for the rear....where do I find the correct u- bolts for the 98? everything I can find is for the pre 97...

what about the front..... i can safely get 2 inches from what I understand by cranking the torsion bar...how do I get more for cheap?

what has been done? suggestions?

thank you

don't do blocks. you can get 3" from 63" chevy springs

the easyest would be a body lift. and maybe a set of 29x9.50's

you gan get a 3 inch body lift for about 200 bucks

would really like to go bigger than a 29.... have hancook dynapro 28s now....

is the 63" leaf from a specific year chevy?... aftermarket?

what to do about the front then?

Be aware the Chevy springs require moving the leaf spring hangers.

I would do rear shackles for right about 2" lift if you want it simple.

Anything more than 2" up front will no longer be cheap.

I also agree with junkie shackles and a nice torsion crank should do it and be good for 32x11.5's with a teeny bit of trim

I have an 04 (same gen) and can throw 265/75 (roughly 32) under there stock. Unless you have at least $2,000 for a 4" suspension lift, you can do Belltech Chevy shackles (reversed) and a slight tt, or a 3" BL.

shackles, torsion bars, and trim the fenders to fit your tires 31-32s

where do I find shackles for it?

would I be able to run 33s if i did torsion crank, shackles, and a 3 inch bl?

BellTech #6400 shackles (they're lowering shackles sold for early-'90s 2WD Chevys, but because the leaf mounts on a Ranger are reversed, they lift it).

33x12.50s will fit fine with 3" BL, and the torsion crank/shackles. Good chance you'll probably want to regear the axles for that size tire though (4.56 or 4.88, depending on what engine you have)

if you have a 98 4x4 you should be able to run 33s with the torison crank and a shackle no problem. the may rub a little with full turning.

I just ordered the shackles from summit.... are my brake lines going to be ok as far as length and fitment after the lift?
