Hey guys just wanted to introduce myself, just bought a 93 Ford Ranger 4x4 with a 4.0 v6 lifted and with mud tires. :headbang: This will be my daily driver as I have a 2010 subaru wrx that i drive on the weekends. Just had a quick question, how do i use the locking hubs in the front? Do I set it on free why I drive on 2 wheels or do I set it on lock?

Some people lock them only when needed others might choose to leave them locked for the winter I leave them locked all the time as I am too lazy to constantly lock and unlock them-as long as you are in 2wd it only costs about .75 mpg and if you ever need 4wd FAST you are ready in the push of a button -welcome to the forum-most people wheel about once every 4-6 weeks -we go 3 times a WEEK THATS ANOTHER REASON

Set them to "Free" while in 2wd; "Lock" is for 4wd. But I also leave mine locked in winter, cuz up here in Iowa one never knows if it will snow or how much. (The weather-gurus sure as heck don't......)

Good to see another Texan on the board, too. I used to live down there, about 20 or so years ago....

thanks guys. Here in houston the weather is pretty tame, will keep the wheels on free to save gas. Looking forward to taking the truck to the beach for some sand driving.

Sand is fun... but make sure you get it clean quick or everything will start to rust. I took mine down to Port Aransas for a weekend and came back with a lot of surface rust on the undercarriage. It was a lot of fun though.

the tires I believe are 31x10x50x15, something like that. I will get some pics up soon, truck is in good condition and runs great.
