Hello to all, my name is John. I just scored a 1990 Ranger Xcab 2.9 Liter, 5 speed for $400. Body is a lil banged up, but i do body work so no biggy. Interior is basically shot, gonna need new carpet, headliner, seats, and possibly a new dash " it has a few small cracks in it". But to have the truck i could care less. I do everything that needs to be done to the truck so the work is no big deal. I also own a 2003 Lightning, 2011 F150, and a 1967 Mustang. :icon_hornsup:

Ok, back to the ranger. The V6 will be gone in the future. I'm debating on building a 347ci carburetored high performance motor. Or dropping in the already built 408ci all out race motor. My only concern is the exhaust on the 408. I'd like to run long tubes but it seems like theres none out there. The 347ci would be alot easier swap in my opinion. Due to the fact the exhaust and all around easier swap. Both will be backed up by a fully built C4. Any tips or do's and dont's I should know about? The factory fuel tank will be removed and replaced with a bed mounted fuel cell. The truck will still be street legal and track ready when i'm finished. So i need advice on anything you can offer, motor mounts, trans mount, speedometer connections, factory wiring removal, just about everything. I been researching alot just looking for tips. Thanks for any advice!!:icon_cheers:

Fox body motor mounts.
A Ranger trans mount bolts to to a T5, not sure if a C4 has different spacing. (A Mustang T5 mount has the wrong crossmember bolt spacing). I'm using a movable crossmember. If you're modifying the crossmember, you could use any mount.
Speedometer bolts up without modification, whether your truck originally had a cable, or the cable/VSS combo. Either will go right into a C4.
For wiring, an EVTM takes away any guesswork.

I been looking for some long tube headers to go on the 347. I seen James Duff offers a set. Anyone know how they fit? Does anybody know of a different set of long tubes that fit ? I seen people notching the passenger side frame to get the headers to fit. I don't see a problem with that as long as both sides of the frame are strengthened with pieces of plate steel either bolted or welded in place. Or weld and bolted in place. I just need long tubes for my swap. Block huggers, shorties, or stock manifolds is the very last resort.
