I bought a 03 ford ranger that runs, but barely. Press on the gas and the engine bogs down. It does drive better once warmed up. They said their son sunk it in water. It has the following codes: p2004, p2008, p0446, p0743, p0750, p0755, p0760, p0765, p1747, p0597, p0135, p0141, p2195, p0403. The wiring harness had been messed with on top of the engine. It was cut and spliced back together. Do these codes show a pattern of what could be wrong? All the shift solenoids throwing codes. Many of the codes could be caused by wiring issues. Where to start

Those are a crap load of circuit codes so yea you got bad wiring, shorts, bad grounds, blown fuses... who knows, gotta get in there and start testing.

Find a matching truck in a junk yard and start stripping every part you can off it. Flooded vehicles should be sent straight to the crusher.

First thing id do is go and get me a new/used ECM. If it was dunked in the pond and pulled out pretty quickly i wouldnt be to worried. However, if it was left submerged even ida passed on it.

Id change the ECM first.

Keep in mind if you get an ECM you need the keys with it...

I got this truck for scrap prices. My plan with it is to practice 3d scanning on vehicles. So I just needed an inexpensive truck with a good body. Didn't care too much if it runs good, however it would be cool for it to at least drive in and out of the shop under its own power. lol I wouldn't mind fixing it up as a work truck eventually when im done modeling with it. They told me it had a bad transmission and clogged exhaust.

Check fuses first...
Remove, clean, test...

Any tail light, turn signal, ABS, or speedo issues?

I don't know if the '03 has the underseat body harness, but it's easy to see from underneath.

If you do:
Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Locate and disassemble the junction box under the driver's seat.
Look for moisture.
Clean with electrical contact cleaner.
Fill every socket with dielectric grease, to the point that it squeezes out when assembled.

P.S. ANY Ranger that has the underseat chasis harness needs this treatment REGULARLY.

The wires for the first o2 sensor that run overtop the transmission were completely bare and melted tigrther . I fixed them and replaced fuse 41. Runs like new. No more codes
