Hi All,

My name is Daniel and I'm new to the forum. I have owned a 1994 4.0L Ranger for about 10 years now, and I absolutely love it. It has faithfully served me through my undergraduate college days, and is now by my side during my graduate career.

I am not much of a "car guy," but I'm looking to start doing some of my own car work (mostly because I'm a poor graduate student and can no longer afford to take it to the mechanic). I've been made aware of a couple of issues with my truck, particularly a leaking intake manifold gasket which I plan on replacing next weekend.

I have already browsed and searched the forums regarding this fix, and am confident that it will be a good first project for me to better learn my car.

Welcome to forums. Ya I've learned alot about my truck. Hope some day to drop a 5.0 or a 4.0 sohc... Till then alot of studying to do. Good luck with working on truck.

Welcome to the forums. Good luck with your virgin DIY. You'll have a good sence of accomplishment once your done then you'll be hooked. Next thing you know you'll have a 6 inch lift and 35s and your working on a SAS and a 5.0 swap. What are you plans for your truck or are you just going to leave it the way it is?

right now, I'll be happy if I can get the intake manifold gaskets changed without screwing anything up along the way. Also, I'll consider it quite an accomplishment if I can finish it in under two days. I have both the Chilton and the Haynes books, but somehow I sense that it is going to be a little more difficult than I think. After that is done, I'll have to address a power steering fluid leak.
