Thought working from home during Covid would be a good time to learn about a truck I got a month ago, an 02 Mazda B2300. Its my second "Ranger", I had an '08 Sport 4x4 with the 4.0 and should have never sold it!

Slowly learning how to do my own maintenance! My current knowledge extends little beyond Oil changes/ tire changes and fairly basic repairs like burnt out bulbs and easy diagnostics like the blower resistor I just replaced. Willing to learn and thought this would be a good place to reach out to enthusiasts. i'm up in Toronto, Ontario.

nice truck. that year had a flapper unit inside the intake manifold. they can wear and make noise.
change the PCV valve, get the under carriage sprayed, then drive it.
the 2.3 Duratec is a great engine, my 2005 2.3 has 363,500 miles on it.

I see yours has amber in the tail lights, is that required in Canada?

I will look into that. Thank you. The rocker cover gasket is being replaced on the truck, and I had the drive belt changed.
PCV valve on this truck looks really hard to get to. Have to remove the left wheel splash guard and get in through there.
That's great to hear. I want to keep this little pickup for years, even if it's a secondary vehicle.

The truck is actually originally from Florida. I dont think there is any law stating you need amber tail lights. My F-150 and former Ranger do not have amber lights. I actually like the look of the amber though. It looks retro.

Yes the PCV valve location sucks. But because of that location they tend to wear out faster than normal. When they wear out you end up with tons of oil leaks and carbon buildup in the intake and throttle body. Ford recommends changing them every 12,000 miles or once a year.
