New Thermostat and I'm still over cooling?

Update..

I put in a new thermostat. Still no difference. Its kind of disappointing. I was able to compress both of them so its normal.

So..I played with the gauge sensor a little bit but no luck. Still the same as it was. Heat is just as good as well.

Still wondering about the fan clutch. Is there a way to "test" it to make sure its working right? If its seized, would I over cool? I know power would go downhill but its the same as it was when I bought it so really, I wouldnt know any better.

NO! If it is seized there will be lots of noise and the thermostat will operate as usual. NOTHING BAD will happen.

Whats with the "!" and caps? I was just asking a question.

I know the thermostat would work, I just didnt know if it would cool the truck down more than normal. I just didnt know if there was anything more I can do with the fan to make sure all is well.
Thanks though..

Well...I'll be getting the new gauges soon so I'll repost what I find when I get them. I'm feeling more and more weary of the original gauges. I planned to get mechanical aftermarket gauges anyway. I would rather have numbers and more gauges to monitor whats going on, you know?

Thanks again for everyones help.

when you go get the new t-stat it would be worth the money to buy a flush-n-fill kit to flush out the cooling system. that is if it dont already have one.

You've hit on the reason

Car companies don't install gauges with numbers on them. It's because SOME guys are paranoid about this or that and really don't have a clue about what the gauges should read..
The engine can operate at far greater variance in oil pressure and temperature than these paranoid owners suspect.
Because of the difference in temperature and amount of fuel being ingested from moment to moment, highly sensitive gauges will fluctuate up and down and back and forth.. Causing havoc in the minds of these paranoid drivers..
So the car companies use the gauges with dampeners in them to assure the paranoid drivers and owners that their engines are doing fine..
Don't fight it... Get used to it.

Yeah, I know...Majority of people would rather have the normal, I was just saying what I'd prefer. Thats a shame though...I had an old firebird that had pretty stock numbered gauges. That was nice!

my B2 usually sits about a little under half to a little over a quarter of the way from the bottom of the temp gauge, i'd aim for that.
