Decided to use the space behind the seats for a purpose. I'm workin on a wood shelving type of system. It'll have compartments at each end (in place of the jump seats) and in the middle have slots to store and hold between 4-5 ammo cans.

These ammo cans will house recovery items, towing items, tie downs, provisions, rations?, spare parts, and other trip, off-road, and truck essentials.

Also need to mount a fire extinguisher.

So, since I always thought of the rear of my supercab as being wasted space, I ripped everything out, and began building this.

Went looking for something to cover it, and just happened to be at wal-mart of all places and find gray "vehicle replacement carpet". $8 a roll, I can't resist to pick up a couple rolls. That and some staples, paired with 3M brand spray glue came up with this.........

I had to take it apart in order to fit the carpet, but it wasn't too much of a hassle. This is the first part I did. Looked good, and I was a little excited.....decided to proceed.

Overall the carpet wasn't as hard to lay as I thought it would be. The spray glue is awesome, and the staples held the whole deal at the ends well. This is an example of a corner.

Definitely thinking of a center console now. Just need to think and plan what I want it to do and be used for. I'll have something up sooner or later.

Nice work!

Thanks!

I spent about a total of 3 days (off an on throughout the 3 days) on it. It's not really "hard" work, just tedious, and lots of measuring, cutting, changing things, measuring, cutting again....lol

I probably have less than $100 into it, minus what I'll spend on ammo cans, a fire extinguisher, and a big flashlight. Not sure what else will be added to it.

soooooooo, your going to build me one next right? That is an awesome idea. Ive always liked having the storage space back there but hate the lack or organization. How is it secured?

i dig it! and nice work on the carpet.

i need to do something for my chop top b2 as well. its always a mess back there.

How is it secured?

I'm using the jump seat holes to secure blocks to the truck floor. The unit will be secured to these blocks. I may also use self tapping screws to attach it to the metal hump at the back of the cab. It's not really the bottom of the cab and is more of a "false" floor.

But it already fits really tight. I drove around without it moving for the last 3 days.

man that is a hell of a idea you had

The problem with me, usually, is that I think of great things, and sell myself short. I think myself out of it, or underestimate my ability.

With this I just decided one morning to gut the interior and go for it.

I appreciate the compliments!

that's sweet
let's see a finished install pic with all the boxes in

the only thing I would say it might need is a way to secure those army boxes - if you ever roll the truck those things would seriously hurt.

I figured that putting something in front of them would be sufficient. I don't plan on wheeling my truck like that, but even if I do tip.....that's the least of my worries.

I wanna see you build a center console.

I'm going to be mocking up my center console this weekend.
