I recently purchased a new rear axel assembly to install in my 2000 Ranger 4x4. The tag indicates that it is a 4L10 (4:10 Limited slip) 8.8 (8.8 inch)
The model number is V663A

Does anyone know where I can find the application data for this unit??
I've done google searches, etc and I come up empty.
I believe it is an explorer unit but I can not prove it.

Any help out there ??

Does it have disc brakes? How wide is it from housing end flange to the other side (where the backing plates mount)? What's the diameter of the axle tube? All good clues as to what you might have!

Thanks for the response - (sorry for the spelling, I know that it's "axle") I do have additional info. It is a 31 spline with 3 1/4 dia housing. It has 10" drum brakes. I'm fairly certain that it is from an Explorer.
I was hoping that I could determine the vehicle/year application from the V663A code.

also - the last code on the tag is 2H16 - I asume this means it is manufactured in 92 - Aug 16th ?

thanks

if it's 31 spline there are only 2 possibilities assuming it's not from an F150 (there are a couple others, but still)...

it's either an explorer or a ranger FX4 level 2, an explorer will be 59" from wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface and the spring pads will be on the bottom of the axle, if it's from a ranger it'll be a little bit narrower and the spring pads will be on the top of the axle

Are the perches over or under that should tell whether its from an explorer or not.

no the 2001 ranger edge with factory tow package had 31 spline and it had 4:10 Limited slip 8.8 inch axle but you are right about the perches if they are on top it is ranger if on bottom it is exploder
